About Dr. Schlafstein

Dr. Schlafstein provides quality care for cancer patients by offering innovative and comprehensive radiation oncology services.

Expertise

Dr. Schlafstein gained experience treating cancer patients with radiation therapy during her residency. She also received extensive training in stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, low-dose rate and high-dose rate brachytherapy, SpaceOAR™, prostate fiducials, breast intraoperative radiation therapy, proton therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, volumetric-modulated arc therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, radioisotopes and utilization of Elekta and Varian equipment.

She also collaborated to improve resident didactics by developing a new curriculum that included lectures and interactive sessions on a variety of topics, such as treatment planning, dosimetry, procedural skills and emergency and afterhours treatments, as well as authored and co-authored more than a dozen publications, abstracts and presentations.

Background

Dr. Schlafstein graduated cum laude from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a bachelor’s degree in biology and society with a concentration in biomedical ethics. She then earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed her radiation oncology residency at Emory University in Atlanta.
