Expertise
Dr. Libbey completed a Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgical Fellowship in June of 1999 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. At Mayo, he was Director of the Laparoscopic Laboratory, which involved training residents, fellows and staff members in beginning and advanced laparoscopy. Less than one percent of general surgeons in the nation have this level of training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, establishing Dr. Libbey as an expert in this field.
Dr. Libbey is recognized as the first surgeon in the Midlands to perform single-incision laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for cholecystectomies and right hemi-colectomies.
As prior Chief of Surgery at Lexington Medical Center and author of many peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Libbey is a strong advocate for continuing education and excellence in health care support and services.
He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the Lexington Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Systems, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the South Carolina Medical Association.
